OpenLDAP problems with Entourage

I work at the University of Wollongong in Australia

We have an Exchange 2003 Server with Front End OWA Web Services and Back End
for MAPI, IMAP access for Windows Clients.

Recently one of our Departments who have MAC's wanted to use Exchange server
for their e-mail.

Our Mac person installed Entourage on the Max OSX's no issues connected them
to the Exchange server all seemed fine until they tried to configure LDAP to
talk to our OpenLDAP Server which is not the GAL on Exchange but a Unix
Server that cotains all our Staff and Student e-mail addresses at the
University.

It seems that there are 2 separate places you can configure LDAP in
Entourage but using our standard LDAP address and search path doesn't work in
either of the config sections within Entourage.

So one of our Unix systems administrators did an LDAP dump and guess what !!!!

The information that Entourage is sending to the OpenLDAP server is garbage
KHJAFD*(&A^(*&(*&I*(bniy9*& like this

Also our Unix Systems admin said that even though we have put in the
OpenLDAP server address Entourage is trying to get LDAP information from our
AD GC for some reason.

My problem may be un-related to Andrew Kutz's but sounds similar to me. Our
LDAP Server doesn't require SSL to connect to it.

Is there any offical response to this problem or is there a fix from
Microsoft.
