Options for connecting Project 2007 Pro to project 2007 remotely

I'm looking to provide options for connection Project 2007 pro remotly to the
Project 2007 server.

Most of what I can find deals with web access and not the Office program.

What I am finding is that a direct connection will be insecure due to the
need to open SQL ports. I'm curious if there is an option similar to
Outlook's rpc over https.

Baring this is VPN or a Terminal Server my only option?

Hello Jim,
Project Professional 2007 connects solely using http or https.
There is no need for an open sql port anymore (as it was in 2003).

Except for data analysis, which connects directly from the Project Pro client
to SQLAS (can't remember the port number though...)
