Org chart: Double border around parent boxes

P

Paul

I imported an org chart from a tab-separated file. The boxes with
subordinates have a double line for the box boundary. In the midst of
editing, some single-border boxes became parents to subordinate boxes
e.g. when I Ctrl-drag other boxes onto an existing box. However, the
new parents don't have a double border. Right-clicking on the box and
choosing Format allows me to choose options for Line, but not a double
border. How can one ensure that all parent boxes automatically have
double borders? Failing that, how does one manually set the border to
a double line?

Thanks.

I don't think Visio normally supports double lines. But, what you might try,
right click a shape with the double line border, bring up it's shapesheet,
and then look in the Line Format Section, and check the entry for Line
Pattern. I believe Visio patterns only go from 0 to 23. If something is
unusual there, you might try to copy it to one of the shape's shapesheet that
lost this behavior.

Hope this works.

The double line outline for the Executive and Manager shapes is
created using two geometry sections. If you copy the Geometry.2
section from one of these shapes into any other shape then you can
also get the double lines. You will also need to set the User.margin
cell and set the geometry NoShow cell to false.

Let me clarify my previous comment--I don't think MY first recommendation is
of any value. I posted that before Paul Herber's reply showed up. I wasn't
referring to his post, just mine.
