org chart shapes linked to database

I'm an old MS Office developer but don't have much experience automating
Visio (yet).

I am creating a process map of my company's quality activities Part of
this diagram will include listings of actual employees involved in the
activity. I thought dropping a Staff org shape on my drawing and then
linking it to a multi-record Access table of employees would do the trick,
but there's no generation of multiple shapes to match the many entries in the
table. Plus, even though the first shape shows to be linked to the right
fields (Name and Title) those values aren't showing up.

Maybe I misunderstood the functionality. I was sure I'd link to a table and
watch shapes just automatically populate. I want a dynamic relationship
between the org shapes and the drawing so that as people are added or edited
my document will update. Is this even possible? The info I have on this
subject is confusing and incomplete...

Thanks,

Randall Arnold

not in the current version, you have to write code to get that type of
functionality. it has been raised as a requirement for a future release.

Thanks Al. I have the "Developing Visio Solutions" book; hopefully it'll
help me find a solution.

I'd also strongly suggest the visio sdk from msdn. It has a lot of good
examples/samples/libraries.
