I am unable to view the organizational tree bubbles in the slide I am working
on, or in new slides. They do appear correctly in the slide show. How do I
make the bubbles and connecting lines visible?

I would start by notching back graphics acelleration
right click desktop > properties>settings>advanced>troubleshoot
