Organizing Contacts in Outlook

E

Edb

Greetings again :)
With my e-mails in Outlook, I can create folders and
categorize my information as needed.

- Study / Microsoft
- Study / GotDotNet
- Study / ASP.Net
- Work
- Purchases / Ebay

Can I do this with the Contacts area?
I want to categorize people by

- Family
- Friends
- Programmers
- Computer Stores

I really appreciate your input and like this forum.

thx,
Edb

Use Categories (create your own) or use separate contact folders.

To use categories, in an open contact, click on the button in the lower
right hand corner of the contact record. In the list that displays, add
your own defined categories using the window at the top. Then, you can go
into your contacts and assign each one to a category - some may overlap,
such as friends and programmers.

To create different folders for your categories, display the main contact
folder by category. Create new contact folders and give them distinctive
names. Then, select a category heading in your main contacts folder, drag
it to the new contact folder that matches the category.

However, it is just easier to keep all of your contacts in one folder and
sort by category when you need specific contacts in a category. If you
create new contact folders, be sure to enable them as Outlook Address
Books - right click on each folder, select properties, then on the Address
Book tab, check the option to make this available as an Outlook Address
Book.
