orientation stuck

Why is orientation stuck on landscape, and margins won't change whenever I
open a new document? I get a 'will make margins too narrow and columns
uneven' message and refuses to accept any changes.

Go to Format | Columns and click the preset picture for One (even if 1
column is already selected), then OK. If that solves the problem in the
current document, you'll need to make this change in Normal.dot; see
