Orphan Timesheet tasks Proj Server 2003

We have several users with task appearing in there timesheets that correspond
to task that were deleted from the project plan. Users can enter time to
these tasks that seem to go nowhere. Has anyone run into this before? Is
there something we can do (perhaps eliminating them from the database?)

Is there an X next to the assignment indicating that it has been deleted
from the project?

The only way I know to remove a deleted assignment is to train the resource
to use the "Hide" feature or to delete the project from the database itself
and re-import if you need it in the system.

no there isn't an "X" we are not compleatly sure how it happens but we
beleive it is related to a user logging time to a task but not submitting it
and the task being deleted in the project plan

the task appears in the timesheet PWA view as real task and goes nowhere if
hours are submitted against it....
