OT- getting setup with a domain name & email address

Julian Milano

Sorry, but I don't know where to ask this one:

I'm looking at registering a domain name, like jules.com. I then want to
receive and send email from, say [email protected]. I'd like all incoming and
outgoing emails to goto Outlook on my home PC, who's email addres is
currently with my ISP, say [email protected]

I'm looking for the best deal (lowest cost) and want to know which companies
can provide this service. How is it all setup? Will all outgoing emails be
from [email protected] eventhough they are funnelled into/out of my datafast
email account?

TIA

Do you not need your website hosted also?

If not, I suggest Go Daddy (http://www.godaddy.com)

Domain registration $8.95/year, one email address $9.95/year.

You can use webmail or Outlook to process your email.

If you do need webhosting also, I still recommend Go Daddy for the domain
registration. But then you can get your email account with your web hosting.
There are a number of hosts out there that are fairly cheap. World Web
Hosters (http://www.worldwebhosters.com) has hosting with email for as low
as $11.88/year. Remember this is cheap hosting, passable service, but not
award winning of course. There are lots others out there.

As a matter of course, I never register my domain through my host. Many will
offer to do this, but I just don't feel safe with this.

For Registering the Domain name, Definitely go to www.godaddy.com and do it there. VERY reliable,
VERY inexpensive.

THen for hosting your site/email somewhere, head over to www.webhostingtalk.com. It's a website for
discussions about hosting. You can post somethig in the "Request" forum and will probably get
offers for free hosting or at least very inexpensive hosting.
