Hi,

Business Contact Manager appears to be a lot more capable program than I
really need. In the past I used ACT!. I migrated to BCM several years ago.

The reason I used BCM instead of Outlook's base features is that I can store
more information in BCM than in Outlook.

But... I have run into a lot of problems with BCM. There are problems at
start-up, and there are errors presented in the Event Viewer. I have posted
in the MS forums on a number of occasions (this forum and the SQL Server) and
have not gotten any helpful responses. I'm a stand alone user, and a single
employee company. It just isn't worth all the time I need to become an expert
on this application.

If someone could help me solve my problems, I would consider staying with
this application. The main problems are as follows:

1. After restarting Vista, I get an warning about not being able to open BCM
when I start Outlook. I am asked if I want to work offline. I answer no. Then
I shutdown Outlook, and then restart Outlook. On the second try BCM is loaded
with Outlook.

2. In the Event Viewer there are many instances of Event IDs no. 824 and 7886.

3. When I try to resolve the errors mentioned in the above item by running
Check for Errors from Manage Database, I receive a message that states: "Some
errors were found that cannot be fixed. Please restore a backed up database
to continue working. Any changes made that database after it was backed up
will be lost."

Going back in the event log, I see that the error messages go back into last
summer. Consequently, I will lose quite a bit of data if I restore a database
from mid summer. Is there any other way to repair the database? Or, does it
ieven matter... I have been using it for months without any problems (other
than the messages in the Event Viewer).

I would really like to stick with BCM; but, I came to the conclusion a long
time ago that it is more than I need... and it requires a lot more system
resources than should be required for the type of application I need.

Thanks

Jeff
