Oulook 2003 crashes with Norton Internet Security (Sometimes)

My Outlook 2003 was perfect till I installed Norton Internet Security. Now
I sometimes get an 'abnormal program error' on opening Outlook. Usually,
it's OK second time round.

All help appreciated.

Thanks,

Steven

Uninstall/Reinstall w/out the e-mail integration and consider excluding the
PST file type from antivirus scans. Get in the habit of saving attachments
to the file system and scanning them before opening.

Turn off Norton's integration with Outlook. If you have its on-access
scanning turned on, it won't let you run any viruses, and there seem to be
a lot of problems caused by Norton trying to hook itself into Outlook.

Hi:

I am not sure which version of NIS do you use.

I tried to upgrade to NIS 2005 a few weeks ago but found it had too many
problems with Outlook 2003 and my system with XP Pro SP2.

So I ended up to remove NIS 2005 and stick to NIS 2004 Pro which has been
working fine.

Kindly share the end result of your situation, as I'm still considering to
move to NIS 2005 in the future.

Many thanks.

My set up was exactly as yours - NIS 2005 with Outlook 2003 on XP Pro SP2.

I took the advice to uncheck Outlook (and Outlook Contacts) in the Client
Integration section of Norton Anti Spam.

This solved the problem.

Curiously, I have now re-enabled Outlook integration and - so far - all is
well.
