Out of Memory or too many open files save error in Word

Word 2002 (XP)has SP2, is generating errors when my users
are trying to save an edited document back to network
share.
the errors are either "document could not be saved, not
enough memory", or "not enough disk space or too many
files are open".

There is PLENTY of disk space on the server.
I see no apparent errors in the application logs.

Any ideas?

we are having the same problem when we upgraded to Word
2003. If you find a solution, please share it with us.
