outbox not clearing

When I send a messsage my mail stays in the outbox instead of moving to my
sent mail. What is wrong?

What version of Outlook are you using? Do you have send immediately checked
under your mail options?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, macmov asked:

just as an experiment I unchecked my send immediatly and it still remains in
the outbox file. Not bolded mind you but it's there instead of the sent file
box.
