Outgoing mail stuck in Outbox...

For no obvious reason (no system changes, etc.) when I send email it now
remains in the Outbox. If I go to the outbox, click to open and re-send, it
eventually will send, often after several tries. "Send immediately when
connected" is selected, and I've tried deselecting/re-selecting without any
change.

Any clues?

Tried an Outlook Repair, or Office diagnostics in whatever version of
Outlook you are using, also scanpst.exe, the inbox repair tool, run against
your data file (with outlook closed)
