Outlined or Shadowed font?

Can anyone recommend a good, clean outlined or shadowed font please?
Don't mind if I have to pay a modest price for it. I've visited many
sites and have installed scores of free fonts, but still haven't found
what I'm after.

This one, Imprint MT Shadow, is about the best so far. But as you see
from this example, it's very hard to see the third placement, 'On
fussy background'.

Others I've tried are Caslon Openface BT, Colonna MT, Eras Contour,
Gunplay 3D, Hillock, Holiday, mumumu (sRB), SF Chromium 24 bold, etc.

Many others looked OK at first, but apart from visibility on a mixed
background I found a common flaw was that at sizes of 18 or smaller,
large gaps appeared between some characters.

There must be a font out there that's like say Arial, Verdana, Tahoma,
etc, but which has an easily visible black (or white) border or shadow
outside its white (or black) interior?

Have you considered using WordArt? You can independently choose the fill
color, outline color and weight, and shadow color, position, and depth, just
as on any AutoShape. It's a bit fussy to get right to begin with, but once
you got a sample to your taste, you could save it as an AutoText entry and
then just change the text as required.

Thanks Suzanne. I do use the excellent WordArt for some purposes, but
for this particular requirement I'm really looking for a font that I
can use in a DVD-making application. IOW, just want to select it in
the usual no-brainer fashion.

I understand. You might try posting in microsoft.public.word.printingfonts,
where you might reach people more knowledgeable about fonts.

Thanks Bob, appreciate those suggestions.

Myriad Sketch (couldn't find Standard): Possible, but suspect small
sizes wouldn't be clear enough.
Myriad Wild Volume looks a possible

Rosewood Regular: Not suitable ('Western/Cowboy' style?)

Viva: Looks a possible, even though it's definitely in the 'fancy'
rather than 'plain' category.

But they're expensive aren't they?! For example, Viva at about £23 UKP
($43 USD). I'd need to try one before I considered forking out that
much! Maybe I can find a site that offers a try/buy scheme...
