Outllook 2003 displays " instead of name/address in To: field

Hello. Outlook 2003 is displaying To: field entries as " (quotation mark)
instead of the name and address of the recipient. The only affected
names/addresses are those from the Contact list, not the Global Address List.
When the " is hovered over, the address is displayed in a tool-tip-like
balloon. Any ideas on getting it to display the names and addresses of the
recipients?

Check the contact's "display as" entry in the contact item.
