Outlook 200 crashes editing rich/html text

GerryP

When I reply to an e-mail in rich text or html and edit the text -- e.g. hit
enter to add a comment beneath a portion of text -- Outlook freezes for a
moment and then pops up a "Outlook has encountered a serious error and has to
close..." message and exits. I have XP Pro SP2 with all the latest updates
and have reinstalled Outlook and all its updates more than once. I
uninstalled my antivirus program and still it crashes.

Has anyone encountered this problem and possibly know a solution?

What Outlook version are we talking about here? (reread the subject ;-)
What is logged to the Event Viewer regarding this?

Outlook 2000. I left out a zero.
What is logged to the Event Viewer regarding this?

Faulting application outlook.exe, version 9.0.0.6604, faulting module
mso9.dll, version 9.0.0.6926, fault address 0x000060cb.

Do you have Word or Outlook as your e-mail editor?
Does the same work in Outlook Safe Mode?
Do you have comments enabled? Tools-> Options-> button E-mail Settings...

Here's what happened: I just installed Outlook2003, so I can't test it
futher. Thanks very much for helping me thus far. Unfortunately I can't,
even for the sake of science, follow through, now that i have 2003. But I do
appreciate your help.

For Outlook 2000:

Click on Tools, options, and e-mail options
You will either need to either uncheck Mark my comments with: or you will
need to put something in the box. If it is checked and nothing in the box
Outlook will crash when you try to add a comment to a reply.
