Outlook 2000 Archiving not working ?

Joe

I use to use the Auto Archive option but I have not been prompted in a while
so I tried to manually archive. the Archive icon in the lower right side
corner shows up but it disappears shortly there after and nothing moves to
the Archive folder. I have it set to Archive stuff older than 1/1/2003 and
there are messages in there from 2002? again, the archive icon shows but
nothing happens?? I have the correct path in set for the Archive file. my
archive file is 309mb

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,

Joe

Check the Modified date on the items that aren't being archived as you think
they should. That's the date Outlook uses to determine whether or not an
item is ready to be AutoArchived, and a simple action such as moving the
item to another folder can change the Modified date. More information and a
list of actions that change the Modified date can be found here:

Jocelyn, Thank you for the reply back.

Yes, that Modified date is later than the received date (for whatever
reason).so if my only option is to archive by "items older than date". I can
't archive items received before 1/1/2003 because the of the Modified date
is later, correct? I would think the received date would determine "items
older than" but as you point out the Modified date is what get archived? I
assume I have to drag & drop to move these items, or is there annother way
to sort by received to archived?

TIA,

Joe

Jocelyn disregard my earlier reply, I just changed it to 6/1/2003 and that
seems to close enough.... Thanks again for the info on the modified field
