I would liek to use autocomplete that I have on vista here at work but we are
using outlook 2000. how do i turn it on so that when I have previously typed
Amy Jones and Amy Smith and then I open a new email and type just Am, the
autocomplete allows me to choose form my previous contacts or form my global
address book to complete the rest? So I do not hav eto type the complete
name each time orlook it up each time?

If I remember correctly that style of autocomplete was added in OL2002.
Outlook 2000 has a feature called auto-resolution. If you enter part of a
name or a nickname then tab out of the field (or hit Alt-K [Check Names]),
Outlook will attempt to resolve the name against your address book. If it
can't it'll red underline it and you can right click on the name to manually
resolve it. Outlook will save the resolution for future use.

"Outlook will save the resolution for future use."

What future use? With autocomplete, when the user begins typing an email
address, Outlook (2002 of later) presents the user with previously used
address that match. With Outlook 2000, the user will be forever ctrl-King (or
alt-King), right?

If auto-resolution is enabled, after you tab out of the to field, the names
will resolve. Outlook will remember which record went with the names - ie,
if you have two charlie's, the first time you type charlie, outlook
underlines it with a squiggle and you need to pick the one you want. The
next time, it resolves the the charlie you picked and you can right click on
it to pick the other charlie.
