Hi all
It is a very strange problem that I have and even microsoft is investigating
this problem for me (I have logged a call with PSS).
We have a customer who used to use POP3 email accounts in Outlook2000 and
obviously, the emails were coming down to a PST file.
This PST file would be stored locally on each users PC.
Now they have SBS2003 server i.e. Exchange server (now the emails come to
Exchange and not POP3).
So I created a new profile in outlook and configured to access the mailbox.
And then I imported those PST files in to respective mailboxes for users.
But very interestingly, when I imported emails in to the mailbox, most of
the emails are not viewable, i.e. you can view them in the preview pane.
The preview pain contains the following error message instead
"This item contains active content and can not be displayed in preview pane.
Double click the item to view it.".
Even if I double click the email, I can't open it. Again, this is when the
emails are imported in the mailbox.
Now, if I open the same PST file in my new profile with mailbox, and I try
to access the same email from the PST file, it is perfactly fine.
So, same email, but if viewed from a mailbox, can't be opened, if viewed
from PST file, works fine.
There is an article on Microsoft website (can't remember the Q number), but
it is not helpful at all as it doesn't describe any solution.
If anyone had gone through this problem, please let me know how to fix it. I
have already tried the following things.
1. Upgraded Outlook2000 to Outlook2003 and then open the emails in mailbox
but no good.
2. Try to access emails from OWA, but same thing.
Please Please help.
