Outlook 2000 Calendar freezes

J

Jay

I just started using Outlook 200 for the calendar and contacts. When I click
on the calendar icon, it switches to th eclaendar but the main frame with
today's appointments is blank. Clicking in the frame makes it all appear. But
the calendar is frozen. I can't change dates or create a new appointment or
anything. The Microsoft update site says my software is all up to date.

All help is welcomed.

Are you clicking on a shortcut to the Calendar folder on the Shortcut Bar, or
are you clicking on the folder itself in the Folder List? Or does the same
thing happen either way?

Jocelyn,
Thanks for your reply. I am clicking on the folder itself in the folder list
on the left side of Outlook.

Jocelyn,
I tried that but it made no difference. In experimenting, I found that after
the calendar opens with the blank windows, if I click on the address book
icon wait for that to open, then click the calendar icon again, it will open
correctly.

OK, then you might want to try running Detect and Repair on your Office
installation. You can find the command on the help menu of Outlook or any
other Office program you have installed. Make sure you have your Office
installation CD at hand before you start the repair.

Jocelyn,
Sorry for the delay but things have been busy. I restarted Outlook with the
/ResetFolders switch as you suggested and it made no difference. Outlook has
crashed and frozen a number of times since loading it. Overall a very
disappointing experience.

Jay, maybe you missed my most recent reply (to the last message where you
said /ResetFolders didn't work). I said:

"OK, then you might want to try running Detect and Repair on your Office

other Office program you have installed. Make sure you have your Office
installation CD at hand before you start the repair."

Try that and let me know if it helps.

Jocelyn,
Not sure what happened with our replies here but I tried Detect and Repair
also and it made no difference. A friend of mine said he would take a look at
it sometime next week. But all your suggestions are most welcome.

I am not sure what else I could suggest, so if you can, please post back to
this thread after your friend looks at the problem and let us know if he
figures it out. Thanks.

Jocelyn,
My feined determined that my profile was corrupted. WE attempted to reload
Outlook but again it made no difference. We changed the default so that when
Outlook opens it goes to the Calendar page instead of Outlook today and that
made things work. As long as I avoid Outlook Today things are fine. As soon
as I change to the Outlookk Today page whatever I go to next is frozen.

I am going to use it like this until I figure out what I want to do, upgrade
to a new version of Outlook or move to another program. Thanks again for your
help.

Jay

Did you ever create a new profile? I couldn't determine that from your last
post.

Jocelyn,
I believe my friend tried that but it didn't work. If you have simple
directoins for creating a new profile I will try it again. Otherwise I will
simply start Outlook on the calendar and that solves the problem.

Thanks,
Jay
