Outlook 2000 - Cannot import .pst file - PLEASE HELP!

I am trying to import a pst. file from my old computer into my current
computer. I copied the file from the CD onto my D drive and changed its
status from 'read only' to 'archive'. I then opened Outlook and followed
the steps described under File -Import and Export - .pst file - I browse to
the location on my D drive and click Open. Then NOTHING HAPPENS.
The .pst file is 605 MB and it took approximately 15 minutes to copy from CD
onto my D drive so I assume that the data is there.
Please help - I've searched the Knowledge Base articles and it seems that
I'm doing everything right - it's just that it isn't working. How can I
test to see whether the data is there?
Any help very gratefully accepted.

You dont need to use Import option, once you have copied the pst file ,
remove the read atribute, and point the new personal folder to this pst.
thats it, it should work.
If u need futher assistance do let me know

Within OL, File/Open/Personal Folders...browse to pst
Ensure if you are copying it to default location it has a different name to
current pst
If you plan to use the old pst, rather than new, in OL close the unwanted
pst

Many thanks for the response Sunil. I have a query - when I checked my
Personal Folders properties tab to find the location of my pst folders, the
path shown is c:\Documents and
Settings\Patricia\Desktop\Outlook\Outlook.pst. Do I simply delete this and
type in the path as d:\outlook.pst?

Sorry if this is a very basic question, but when I tried moving the pst
folder according to the Outlook Office Assistance article 'Move your Outlook
data file to another location' I found that when I get to step 4 (In Control
Panel, open Mail) the instructions for Windows XP - 'click User Accounts
then click Mail' don't work because when I go to User Accounts there is no
Mail option to Click and no Show Profiles either.

Cheers

D is your CD drive, correct? If so, copy the file D:\Outlook.pst to some
folder. Drag-and-drop works fine. Let's say you choose "My Documents"
(which is C:\Documents and Settings\Patricia\My Documents or
%USERPROFILE%\My Documents). Now, right-click on the PST (i.e., My
Documents\Outlook.pst) and choose Properties. Uncheck the "Read-Only" box.
Click OK. Now, start Outlook. Then click File>Open>Personal Folders File.
Browse to "My DOcuments" and select Outlook.pst. Click OK. You should now
have another "Personal Folders" item in your Folders list in Outlook.
That's your old PST. You can either access it like that (perhaps giving it
a new display name if you like), make it your default delivery location and
receive your future messages in it, or drag the items out of it and place
them in your existing PST (if you have one). Once everything's been moved
out of it, you can right-click the root in Outlook, and choose "Close". The
next time you shut down Outlook, you can delete the PST.
