Outlook 2000 does not remember password

i have tried the registry modification and every other
suggested option. the registry modification option does
not show any of the screens the instructuctions mention.
nothing seems to solve this problem. is it resolvable at
all, or is it finally time to go ahead and get that new
McIntosh?
