Outlook 2000 email slow..

I have read questions and answers pertaining to slow email programs with
Outlook 2003. Apparently Outlook 2003 can be fixed by deleting a certain
update. I don't have the update they say to delelte which is #931768.

Does anyone know of a fix for Outlook 2000 when the email takes forever to
open, and when you type an email the letters don't show up for a while and it
takes forever to type a message?

I am not really experienced with computers so any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Donna

Try open Outlook. Go Tools/Options/Security, clock OK and with a bit of luck
Outlook will be back to normal speed! It works for me is my post Outlook
2000 very slow for more details.

You have to follow this routine each time you open Outlook 2000, so I leave
it open. I hope this is of help.

Thank you! It does work, but isn't that odd?? Sure looks like there would
be some kind of fix for this where you wouldn't have to do that.
Mine was working fine 2-3 weeks ago and then all of a sudden it had this
problem.

Thanks again and maybe someone will read these and have an answer for both
of us where we won't have to do that each time we open Outlook!

There has been a much deeper discussion on a couple of forums that I have
visited. Basically it is a MS problem that, hopefully, they will fix.

If you want to read more, try:

Having read post in the Spybot - Search & Destroy Forum and the AumHa Forums,
I have a little better understanding of the problem.

Although most of the discussion concerns the very slow typing in HTML, it
also appears to be relevant to our general slow Outlook problem.

Look for the RonaldReagan post 'General Re-Summary Of Problem' but there is
other interesting stuff in this thread.

Donna, I am having the same problem on two computers (XP Pro, Outlook 2000) and a friend is experiencing it on one computer (XP Pro, Outlook 2003).

On mine, I can generally get Outlook back to normal typing speed by opening and deleting some of the new email. Sometimes, just opening the "right" email fixes things, other times an email must be deleted. I am unable to determine a common factor.

This problem also occurs when the computer is booted into safe mode without networking, which eliminates this as a virus scan or firewall problem.

One other person found that changing the font cures the problem when trying to reply to a message. That does not work for me, but deleting email does not work for her.

I have experienced the problem for about 3 months and am still searching for a perminant fix.
