Outlook 2000 - Error message - pst can not be accessed

Two weeks ago I stopped the auto archive setting on my sent items. A week
ago, I started receiving the error message C:\ Documents and Settings\ 'user
name'\ Local Settings\ Application Data| Microsoft\ Outlook\ Outlook.pst
could not be accessed. I followed all of the directions on the Outlook Help
site, ran the suggested Scan that I found on my Office CD (No problems). I
tried to set up another pst, but the box under the Personal Folder "Outlook
Today" send POP mail to this personal file folder is grey and could not be
changed. I then went back to the sent items folder and reactivated the auto
archive and my E-mails started working fine. I thought the problem was
corrected until today when I had the same problem. Today I received 3 of
each incoming e-mail. I takes for ever to receive an E-mail. I can send a
test e-mail but not one with an attachment like a photo. When I do so, I get
the above error message. I do not know if this is related to the auto
archive issue or not, but it is a royal pain. Thank you.
