Outlook 2000 hangs immediately after startup

Hi group,

I'm using Outlook 2000 as my pop email client. I received
an email about an hour ago that I wanted to reply to.
Trying to reply to it several times caused Outlook to hang
up. Now, whenever I start outlook, I am able to work in it
for maybe 5 seconds before it hangs up.

I have 14,000+ msgs in my trash folder. I guess I forgot
to empty it out lately. All that damn spam. Anyway, I
can't have the program be responsive enough to delete
those items. I basically can't do anything. And I don't
even know for sure if that's the problem, but I do recall
having a full folder like that causing problems in the
past, just not this bad.

Any ideas? Anyway to delete the trash via my .pst file
without going into Outlook?

Have you tried running the repair routine on your setup disk?
