Outlook 2000: IMAP folders cannot be subscribed

T

Tobias Weisserth

Hi everybody,

We have an IMAP server in the office where every user has an IMAP account.
This works perfectly with all mail clients except Outlook.

This is the situation:

Apart from the INBOX there are some subfolders like "junkmail" or "virus"
where the mailserver dumps incoming mails that fit the criteria for SPAM or
virus mails. A user has then the possibility to skim through these
subfolders to confirm deletion or handle the mails in a different fashion.

In Outlook 2000 I cannot subscribe any of these folders. However, I get a
list with all the available subfolders, but subscribing them results in an
error. Subscribing works perfectly fine for example in Thunderbird 0.8 for
Windows.

I can however create new subfolders with Outlook 2000 which are also
accessible from within other mail clients.

The mail server is running Courier IMAP and the mails are stored in the
maildir format within the homedirectories of the users.

How can I make Outlook 2000 work with these subfolders?

many thanks,
Tobias W.
