outlook 2000, recurring tasks, user-defined fields

I am stuck trying to get new occurrences of recurring
tasks to display correctly in a filtered view.

The tasks are created using a custom form. This form
includes the user-defined field "ETA", and a calculated
field "DueOrETA" which is the lesser of Due Date
and "ETA" (provided Due Date and ETA are each non-zero).

If I create a recurring task using this form, then mark
the task as complete, the calculation on the "DueOrETA"
field does not happen until and unless I happen to open
the new task and edit it.

Which means that my custom View showing all tasks with
DueOrETA this week incorrectly shows or hides the new
occurrence of the task, since the View is filtered on the
value of DueOrETA.

Should I be forcing a recalculation of the fields when a
task is marked as complete, and if so, how?

We will USUALLY be using the form to mark the task off as
complete. If desperate we can force the use of the form
by turning off in-cell editing in all views.
