Outlook 2000 SP3 delay in recieving emails from exchange server

Dears,
I installed (Outlook 2000 SP 3 (9.0.0.6627)) on (win XP SP 1), I
already had this release working fine on (Win 2000 Advanced server
SP4).

My mail server is (Microsoft exchange server 2000 SP 3) and delivery
option is configured to get the messages to local pst file on my
machine.

My problem is that I recognized too much delay for recieving messages,
I open Outlook minimized all the time and sometimes maximized, and I
used to recieve mesage and I used to have messages delivered instantly
when they arrive to my Exchange mailbox, now I get it very delayed
delivered to my local pst, so I have to click F5 or send/receive
button every 5 min. to get the messages delivered.

The delay is sometimes for 40 min.

I want to configure my outlook to issue send/receive every 3-5 min to
releif me from headache but all I found that I can't configure this as
long as I'm connected to exhange mail server.

Is this true?
Is there any soplution to my problem?

Thankx
