Outlook 2000 takes ages

Hi

I am finding that if I am on line then outlook 2000 takes ages (up to 15 min) to open.

If I am off line its mostly quick...

Online, I get the "microsoft outlook 2000" box and an empty window that stays empty. When this happens other applications run slow

my pst file is just over 1Gb

Am running xp pro
