Outlook 2000 unknown error opening mailbox

My Outlook 2000 gives and error when trying to open the
mailbox or when I click To:. "The messaging interface has
returned an unkown error. If the problem persists, restart
Outlook." restarting does nothing. I have tried repair
with no success. I tried reinstalling several times-no
change. I Upgraded to SP-1a and then to SP-3 with no
change.
I am using Win 98SE and office 2000 small business edition.
All my contacts are still there and I can send Email as
long as I type the nickname (unless there are more than
one) or the email addresss. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks in advance.
