I am using Windows XP Pro with sp1 and outlook 2000 for e-
mail. I am going to be updating, when available, to
xpsp2. Questions I have:
Will this new update to xpsp2 interfere with the way my
Outlook now works?
Are there steps I need to take beforehand?
Do I have to make sure I have all necessary updates for
Outlook before install of xpsp2?
How do I know if I have all necessary updates for
outlook? I used Windows Update and have all critical
updates that I need. There are 12 optional updates but I
am going to download only 6.

1. Windows update does not touch Office. You will need to use
http://office.microsoft.com for updating Office.

2. SP-2 does not touch any Office files.

3. Your post is not so urgent as to require the exclamation points. Most
often, it is an annoyance rather than a help.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Lon asked:

Thank you for getting back to me and sorry about the
exclamation points. I did that so that I could find my
message easier when looking. I won't do it again.

While Windows XP SP-2 won't directly affect Outlook, it can have
side-effects that may affect how all of your Internet connections work. Be
sure to study the online documentation for SP-2 before you install it so
that you understand just what will change.
