Outlook 2000 will not authenticate

I can send email with SENDMAIL - SMTP enabled using Mozilla and Netscape
7.1, but not with Outlook 2000. My SENDMAIL server requires SMTP
authentication. I
have account properties set right, but I get authentication errors. I have
virus scan turned off.

Everything else works, why not Outlook and Outlook Express?
