Outlook 2001 for Mac and System 9.2

Tom R.

I have been running Outlook 2001 on my Mac system 9.1 with Exchange
Server 2003 with no problems. I upgraded to system 9.2 and I have lost my
connection to Exchange Server 2003. I've tried re-setting the profile but I
keep getting messages saying the server is not available or that folders can
not be found.

Is there any fix for this? I can access the server using Outlook on my Virtual
PC, so I know there is a physical connection and the Outlook for Mac does
see the server.

Hi Tom!

Does your Mac use DNS for server name resolution or does it use a Hosts
file?

Can your Mac access other TCP/IP related resources such as web pages?

Thanks for the response Bill!

I'm not at the computer that is having problems, but if I'm not mistaken, the
Mac uses the DNS to access the server. I have not problems with the TCP/IP.
I have full access to our server, DSL, and other network devices. Like I said,
I can even access Exchange through my Virtual PC and Outlook 98 for PC.

I heard somebody mention tossing out Exchange preferences or something
like that from my system folder to "clear up" Outlook.

Do you know of any way to "re-configure" my Outlook for Mac 2001???

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom!

If you think that simply setting up your Outlook again will correct the
problem then you can do the following.

First, quit Outlook and then trash the folders and files in System
Folder --> Preferences that begin with "Exchange". Don't empty your
trash in case you need to retrieve the files and put them back.

At this point open the Outlook Settings application (usually has an
alias in Control Panels but can be found in the Microsoft Outlook 2001
folder in a sub-folder).

Click the Show Profiles button and proceed to create a new profile. Once
you've entered your information you can click the Test Settings button
and if the progress bar zips all the way across you're setup is complete.

Hope this helps! bill
