Outlook 2001 for Mac on a single proc PowerMac G5

Will Outlook 2001 run on a G5 (with OS 10.3.6)? I get this error message:

"Outlook cannot write information need to complete installation."

Even when I am logged in as Root. I have reset the permissions on the
System 9 folder and the System 9 Applications folder to Read and Write for
everyone. (Classic is not useing the System 9 prefs in the user's profile,
it is using the Prefs in the System 9 OS folder)

I have 20 G4s running OS 10.3.6 and Outlook 2001 with no problems.

This is our first G5.

Thank you

I should have included, This G5 came pre-installed with Panther and I added
the Classic support from the "Additional Software" CD that came with the G5
(as per Apple's instructions)

Thank you

Thank you

If you haven't moved into your G5 yet, you might try blowing away the
default install of Mac OS X and reinstall it. This may be similar to a
related problem where users have this problem after upgrading from Mac
OS 10.2.x to Mac OS 10.3.x.

If you're already moved in you can try a workaround. Use the Disk
Utility to create a disk image large enough to hold the MS Outlook
folder. Set this image to mount at login. Try running Outlook from this
image.

Hope this helps! bill

Thank you Bill.

After further researching I found the Disk Image work-around posted to other
newsgroups as well. However by that time, I had messed around with
permsissons so much that I desided to wipe the machine and restore from the
CDs that came with it. (This is a new machine straight out of the box, no
one has been using it yet)

Once I did that, including the Classic support from the Additional Software
CD (like I did before) I ran all the latest updates from Software Updates
(like I did before) and installed Adobe CS Suite and MS Office X (like I did
before)

I was all prepaired to create the disk image and drag the freshly installed
Outlook to it, when on a whim I launched Outlook, just for fun, from the OS 9
Applications folder, and BAM! it works just fine.

I have no idea what I did different. As far as I can remember I didn't do
anything different.

Oh well, works now, so I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed that it
doesn't break
