Outlook 2001 on OS X v. 10.3

I've just recently received a new iMac with v. OS 10.3 factory loaded. I
am unable to connect to the Exchange server using Outlook 2001 via
Classic. I keep getting the message that the Exchange server can't be
reached and to check with the system administrator. Does anyone
know of any incompatibilities with Outlook 2001, running in Classic on
OS 10.3? thanks

Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther)?

The problem you're describing sounds like you need to boot into Mac OS 9 and
configure it to use a Hosts file, which will resolve your Exchange server's
name to an IP address. You'll need to do this if your network does not have
any DNS servers.

If you've used Outlook on another machine, try copying the following two
files from the working machine to your new iMac.

Hosts
TCP/IP Preferences

Note: I made a mistake it's not 10.3 it's 10.2.6. Sorry. I didn't think
that sounded right. The problem exists none the less and this new
machine won't boot into OS9 thus not allowing me to change network
settings within the "classic" environment. Thanks for the feedback.

will allow you to configure Outlook 2001 on a Mac OS X machine that can not
boot into Mac OS 9.
