My "all day events" banner for August 5 appears on Aug 5 and 6 in my pocket
pc pda and on the calendar on my PC within outlook. It acts like one
posting...if I delete the August 6 apt. the Aug 5 goes away too. What am I
doing wrong?

No. They're both set to gmt -5, Indiana. Any other thoughts?

One has daylight savings time enabled and one doesn't.
