Outlook 2002 Calendar won't display appointments but I can create

W

WS

I recently had to do a OS reinstall on my computer and since then my MS
Outlook (both 2000 and currently my reinstall of 2002 that came with my
Pocket PC) will not display ANY Calendar appointments or reminders no matter
what view or filter I change. I know I CAN *create* them in Outlook 2002
because even though I can't view them once I have saved the appointment (they
show up with all information and no errors on my Pocket PC running a PIM that
synchronizes with Outlook via ActiveSync) -- I can also find the
appointments using the "search" function in Outlook but they will not display
in any Calendar view. What's wrong? Everything else shows up fine in both my
Pocket PC and Desktop running Outlook 2002 - Contacts, Notes, Tasks, e-mail
(hotmail)--everything. I ran the repair tool but nothing changed.
Please help!

Well, since they're synchronizing, you know they exist in the calendar. Try
switching to a list view like By Category and see if they appear. If so,
then you have something in your View that is hiding them. Try starting
Outlook once with the /cleanviews command line switch.

Yes, they exist in the calendar because they synchronize and I can see them
with the "category" list view. - I looked up how to do a ClearViews command
line switch for Outlook 2002 and I started Outlook with this command line
switch and nothing changed. Still the only way I can see this data at all in
Outlook is by using the "Category" list view but NOT by any Day/Week/Month
view or Active appointments, Events, Annual Events, Recurring appointments
-nothing.
I do not have any filters and the line switch command seemed to work but
nothing changed. Any ideas? I've never seen anything like this.

If you used "/clearviews", then try again, since the switch is "/cleanviews"

Oops. I'm sorry. That was a typo. I looked back at the note I cut and pasted
from and I did indeed put "/cleanviews" and not CLEAR views. So I did it
right, I just did not re-type it here right. Sorry. Just to be sure I did
it again: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Outlook.exe."
/Cleanviews

No change. Still cannot see appointments in any Calendar view except
"category" -I've never used this Category view before now (and I'm not sure
if any of this is normal) but this view does show the dates for reoccuring
patterns in that column but all of the appointments say "None" in both the
Start and End columns. When I click on an appointment and open it however,
the correct time (start and end) is displayed within the appointment editing
window and the start and end times appear in my Pocket PC. Could that be a
clue?

Thanks for all your help. I'm beginning to lose track of deadlines not
seeing appointments or reminders on the desktop!

The period following "exe" should not be there. Is this another typo?

Thanks for catching that, Brian! Nope. That's what I copied out of Microsoft
Support page: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;296192

They wrote:** For example, if you want to use the /Cleanreminders switch,
the command-line should read as follows:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Outlook.exe." /Cleanreminders

NOTE: The full path needs to be in quotation marks to preserve long
filenames.
**

I guess it's their typo! - Now I ran this (copied right from the run
dialogue box):
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Outlook.exe" /CleanViews

And no dice. Nothing shows up in Calendar views and all appointments and
holidays are only viewable in Category View as described in previous post.

I'm stumped. Sorry.
Thanks for helping. I think I'll try to find out more info about my problems
or evidence of corrupted extensions and re-post this with a catchier Subject
Line too... see if anyone else has seen this before. === Thank you for all
your time and suggestions!)

Hve you tried a new mail profile or using the /cleanviews switch?
