Outlook 2002 -- command-line compact?

A

Anthony Steve

Outlook 2002 doesn't seem to compact .pst files quickly
enough for my tastes. I don't want to ask my users to
manually compact the file on a periodic basis. What I'd
really like to do is add something to their login file so
that when they log into the network, their .pst files
will automatically get compacted. Does anyone know if
this is possible? The only info I can find on compacting
the .pst file is by doing it manually through Outlook.

Thanks in advance for any help!
Tony

If I write to (e-mail address removed) do you think they will build
lanwench-lottery-winning support into the next release or SP?
So would winning the lottery... <g>

It *would* be nice to be able to do this.

Perhaps I'm missing something, not being a network expert, but wouldn't a
timed macro (even if it needs to be copied to each user's machine) that
launches Outlook, say at 2 AM, and performs the steps to compact the .pst
files do the trick for now?
