Outlook 2002 -- no preview pane, not marking as read

Hello,

Outlook 2002 SP2 (Win 2000) stopped displaying the lower half screen preview
pane (although the option to do so is checked). It also stopped Marking As
Read messages after 1 second, although it did so before. All these mayhem
started after an unexpected Outlook crash. Rebooting Win 2000 did not help.

Any help?
