Outlook 2002 on XP Home Cannot Connect to POP3 Mail Server

Help, I just bought my wife a new laptop with XP Home
addition and am getting a perplexing error when trying to
connect to our Sendmail server. The error returned
indicates that the server does not support SSL/TLS with a -
l option (I have not enabled TLS into my Sendmail 8.12.10
instance.) The Outlook 2002 client is NOT configured to
utilize either TLS or SSL in communicating with the mail
server. What is the fix for said problem?
