Outlook 2002 redownloading messages

Have a client using a third-party POP3 mail server. Has Outlook 2002
patched and set to "Leave a copy of messages on server." Periodically, the
client machines appear to lose the UIDL information and redownload the
entire mailbox from the server. Anyone seen this? Any way to turn on
debugging in Outlook to indicate why the messages are being redownloaded? I
have raw logs of the TCP traffic on the POP3 port but I don't see anything
obvious as to why the UIDL list is fine one minute and not the next.
