Outlook 2002 Safe mode fails

I just upgraded a user from Office XP to XP sp3, and ever since her Outlook
simply will not open. It fails, sends the error report, offers to restart in
safe mode and then safe mode fails. Office XP then offers the repair option,
which it claims is successful, but is not. Then the process repeats: fail -
report - safemode - fail - repair. At my wit's end, and any help is greatly
appreciated!

Does it work when you logon with another useraccount? If so then ít can be
traced back to settings (tried a new profile already) or corrupted cache
files (like outcmd.dat and extend.dat). If it fails for another user as well
then it's either a corrupted installation (re-install Outlook completely) or
an add-in that is not compatible with Office XP SP3 (check for updates for
those add-ins).

Roady - Tried logging on as another user, and it does work. If the
outcmd.dat or extend.dat are corrupted, what would I do? Shouldn't detect &
repair be fixing these? No add-ins are present, but I am starting to think
about blowing out the Office install on this system and rebuilding. Would
that be advisable at this point?

No, as your installations is fine; just your setings are messed up. Rename
the mentioned .dat files to .old and start Outlook.
