Outlook 2003 auto send/receive function stealing focus from window

In Outlook 2003 how do I stop the auto send/receive function stealing focus
from another window in Outlook?

I have my Outlook 2003 set to auto receive emails every minute and don't
want to disable this function as I receive lots of emails. Outlook 2003 is
really irritating though as when I am in the middle of writing an email
Outlook 2003 itself will steal the focus from my email composition screen as
it automatically sends and receives emails ... it only does it for a few
seconds and then focus returns back to email composition window, but it is
annoying. Do you know how I can stop this?


P.S. Clicking on the checkbox next to "Don't show this dialog box during
Send/Receive" in progress box does NOT solve the problem. My current screen
just grays out for a few second and then becomes active again after auto
send/receive is finished. Also tried Tweak UI power tool but this only helps
when another application steals focus, whereas this problem is about a window
in an application stealiong focus from another in the same application.

Reset the auto to 10 mins, you will cause resource problems as it is now
Besides which if anyone requires an instant response they would phone or
fax, email is not an instant comms process.

Hi DL, The thing is I would be faced with a massive backlog of emails to get
through if I was not able to receive them every 1 or 2 minutes - for me it is
really important that I am able to receive and reply swiftly ... I am sure if
this was a major problem Microsoft would be providing that facility to
receive every minute. In any case I previously used Outlook 2000 for years
and receiving any minute never caused any problems, until now when I have
upgraded to Outlook 2003! There must be a solution to this problem ...

The default setting for Outlook 2007, & I recollect 2003 is 5 minutes,
setting it less will cause resource & other such problems, this is well
documented

I tried setting the auto send/receive to 5 minutes and it still refocuses.
On mine, it actually refoucuses away from whatever program I am using (as it
just did while typing this post!). A patch or other tip to fix this problem
would be very helpful. It never did this before for the 2 years I have owned
this computer until yesterday.
