Outlook 2003 Backup of Attached Files

Brodak

Each of our local area networked computers runs a simple
batch file nightly to backup the contents of "My
Documents" to a computer dedicated for this purpose, and
I'd like to also include Outlook 2003's email messages
and their attachments.

Are all email messages and their attachments saved in the
Outlook.pst file? (assuming that the default data file
has not been changed).

Thanks,
Brodak

Even if it has been changed, it's still all in a PST and My Documents is NOT
the default location for any PST.

Yes. the file will be locked if Outlook is running.

If you don't understand the implication of this, it means that, as long as
Outlook is running on the PC, you will be UNABLE to backup the PST. People
will need to close Outlook completely prior to when the backup runs and keep
it closed until the backup completes if you wish to save their PSTs.
