Outlook 2003 BETA sending 'phantom' e-mails

Lately, every time Outlook starts, it says sending 1, 2,
etc of 20 messages' but these are not messages which I
have not written, and worse, they cannot be found in
either the outbox or the sent files. AVG reports no
viruses but I am worried about what, if anything, is
being sent. Can anyone help, please. Thanks

Is it possible that you're sending read receipts? Those won't show up in
your inbox.
