Outlook 2003 Cached Mode

P

Paul Bendall

I don't know what is happening but I have tried the following on five
Exchange 2003 servers using Outlook 2003 in cached mode from default
installs.

If I use Outlook 2003 on a new mailbox and allow it to sync fully then
send a message to myself. It will take approximately 30 seconds to
appear in the Inbox. If I remove the tick for Cached Mode in the
profile so it is directly linked to Exchange the message apears
instantly in the Inbox.

It would appear cache mode on Outlook 2003 is polling the server every
so often, is this the case? Can it be changed? Anyone else tried this
and seen this problem?

TIA,

Paul

Yes, it is polling at a regular interval but I thought it was less than
every 30 sec. Yes, it can be changed using a registry key, but I can't find
my notes, so I don't know which key. (It's possible the key I'm thinking of
only applies to RPC/HTTP transport.)
