Actually I tried deleting and reinstalling email accounts to no success. I
know it isn't an account issue because everything works in Windows Live Mail.
Here is another kicker... when sending a test mail when setting up an
account it goes through no problem! Argh.

Not the same thing.

Not a valid conclusion.
Here is another kicker... when sending a test
mail when setting up an account it goes through no problem! Argh.

The Test Account Settings feature does not do a complete end-to-end test.

Brian I realize that it is not the same thing by creating a new account
versus reinstalling another account. My statement regarding Live Mail was to
confirm that the mailing accounts and or my ISP and or my Norton Internet are
not inflicting the problem. I did not know that the Test Account Features
was not a end-to-end test. Here is my dilemma... I need my current email
addresses to work with the software as they are not so simple to change. A
couple of the addresses are business addresses. I will attempt to create a
new account then open a mail account using Microsoft Outlook. If I make
progress I will report but that still doesn't address my needs.

Read what I said again. I said create a new mail PROFILE, not a new
account.

I am having the same experience with Outlook 07 - getting error message
80042108 - Mediacom said it's not their problem. I've started deleting
updates but am having no luck yet.

Hi, Folks:

My Outlook failed about 3 weeks or so ago and I use yahoo as my email.
Previous to the failure Outlook was working fine (I have Vista and MS Office
Suite Prof 2007). All of a sudden I could not receive or send email through
Outlook. I also have comcast as my ISP. I, of course, was able to pick up
my email at yahoo by just logging in to yahoo mail. Hence my lateness in
addressing the problem.

This morning a neighbor asked me if I was having problem with Outlook
sending and receiving email. WOW..it wasn't just me...So, I thought I would
get on the problem by checking here first. I usually find solutions. But,
this thread did not give me any ideas except to contact comcast...Is that
what the solution is? Or, has there been some MS patch that may have screwed
everything up.

If there is a MS expert monitoring this user group, I would appreciate some
feedback from Microsoft.

Sorrry Brian I didn't pick up on that the first time. Please let me know if
I have this correct: To install a new profile in Outlook 2003 I would 1) hit
Tools 2) Email Accounts 3) Directory? Is that right? Thanks!

Nope! Control Panel-Mail-Show profiles-Add.

That is incorect. In Control Panel, open the Mail applet, then click Show
Profiles>Add.

I dont have a answer for you, but I can say i spent 2hrs 40 min with an ISP
on the phone and recieved no help and I dell support where i spent 1hr and 29
minutes with solutions. I also have microsoft 2003 version. I tried
uninstalling and reinstalling to no prevail I just keep receinging the same
error code as you listed if you find solutions let me know and I'll do the
same.,

TGo the OP, increase your server send/receive interval as well as any
antivirus integration with Outlook (both scanning incoming and outgoing
mail).
