I am running on Windows XP with current service packs. I have been running
Outlook 2002 with current service packs connected to an Exchange 2K SP3
server with the post SP3 roll-up. On Friday I upgraded to Outlook 2K3 and
patched it. Initally everything seemed fine. Then my Tasks folder appeared
to get corrupted. Most of the existing tasks are fine. I can edit/save
them. However, after a couple of days I noticed that some tasks would no
longer open at all. No error message. Just won't open. Simultaneously I
completely lost the ability to create/save new tasks. Again the bulk of the
tasks open/save fine. I have not synced this with anything since the
upgrade so it is solely whatever Outlook2K3 did to the Exchange 2K data.
I created a Old Tasks folder and copied all tasks to the new folder. The
tasks that were broken were broken, the ones that worked, worked, etc. I
could create/save new tasks to that folder. So I felt that showed that the
original Tasks folder is corrupt. So I deleted all tasks in Tasks. Even
with no tasks I still could not add/save new tasks. I did the view, clear
filters, clear custom stuff that a number of newsgroup discussions talk
about. That does nothing.
So I went and created a new tasks folder called New Tasks. I re-synced my
Palm Pilot to New Tasks vs. Tasks and everything is now fine. I can
create/save/edit any task. However, Outlook 2K3 does not permit me to
delete the original corrupted Tasks folder so I can rename New Tasks back to
Tasks and move on. This is annoying because everytime I re-start Outlook
2K3 Tasks on the Navigation bar, it defaults to Tasks which means I have to
dig around for New Tasks.
Realizing that I am running on Exchange 2K, how can I remove the corrupted
original Outlook 2K3 Tasks folder so I can replace it with my healthy tasks
folder?
Thanks for your help,
