Outlook 2003 decides itself to connect the Internet?

I frequently am surprised to find Outlook open and connected when I know I
disconnected and cliosed Outlook down when i left my computer. Anyone got any
ideas how or why?

A few questions:
- is the Outlook.EXE process definitely stopped before you leave the
computer
- might Outlook be getting started by a scheduled task?
